Growing up in India, I was taught to always see the good in others and that if I worked hard, good things would come to me. Because of this, I lived my life with a naive heart—putting trust in everyone without understanding the complexities of the corporate world or the human dynamics at play in every relationship.
Despite being married to a narcissist and working in a toxic workplace, I kept hoping for things to get better.
I felt like I was living a double life: smiling in public, but filled with fear and shame on the inside. No one in my family knew what I was going through because I played the part well and isolated myself as much as I could.
My turning point came in 2015 when I finally gathered the strength to end my marriage. It wasn't just about leaving a relationship. It was about choosing myself, perhaps for the first time in my life. Once I emerge from my bubble that “only good things happen to good people”, I finally saw the vulnerable situation I had put myself in by hoping for better instead of standing up for what's right.
MY STORY OF RESILIENCE INCLUDES:
Like a phoenix rising from the ashes, I became stronger, more resilient, and with a clearer understanding of my worth. Each challenge became another opportunity to rise higher. From career setbacks to family pressures, from financial struggles to personal trauma, every experience fueled my transformation. Today, I stand before you not as someone who has it all figured out, but as someone who has learned that our wounds can become our wisdom.
Releasing Stress Physically
I hired a personal trainer and committed to fitness. Not only did I lose 35 lbs, but I gained strength, confidence, and energy I hadn’t felt since college.
The Power of Stillness
I attended meditation classes and a silent retreat, learning how to quiet my mind and process emotions rather than suppress them.
Reconnecting with Nature
I took up hiking in the evenings and weekends, even conquering the Old Rag trail, and discovered how powerful nature is in resetting the mind and body.
Prioritizing Relaxation
I learned to embrace massages and self-care rituals, realizing that relaxation isn’t a luxury—it’s a necessity.
Rediscovering Joy
I fell in love with ballroom dancing, an activity that brought fun, connection, and a sense of adventure back into my life.
Expanding My Horizons
I took chances on opportunities out of my league, built an incredible circle of friends, and even started dating for the first time in my life.
Creating Financial Freedom
I began investing in real estate and retirement funds, a decision that ultimately led to financial security. Today, investments are diversified , giving me true freedom.
